Update 2.0, the most substantial seen on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, was launched six months ago and brought a lot of news to the game, some of which went unnoticed. Let’s find out together what they are!
The update to version 2.0 has arrived on our consoles and on our islands of Animal Crossing: New Horizons in November 2021: the innovations introduced with the latter are many, and among the most relevant we can undoubtedly mention the return of several characters from the old titles, such as Kapp’n, Brewster and many others, but also the addition of new mechanics for the series, such as the possibility of cooking.
But as we well know, when there is such a substantial update, it is difficult to be able to steal all the new features that have been added, and this also applies to the update we saw last November. Ready to discover all the mechanics that have escaped us after a long time?
All these mechanics introduced and passed a bit unnoticed due to other major additions, are still important in the game and have affected some aspects of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They are also quite interesting features to report. Let’s discover them together!
1 – Quality of Life
The first to name is an improvement to the quality of life of the game introduced with the 2.0 update and with the paid DLC Happy Home Paradise: we are quite sure that you have noticed it, especially if you are a lover of interior design!
When we open the furniture menu in our house on the island, from November 2021, it is easier to move between the various sections of furniture. In fact, by clicking the button when we have the menu of available furniture open, we can move faster between the categories available in our inventory simply by moving the right analog downwards, thus jumping from chairs to tables, from tables to beds, from beds to wardrobes and so on, without having to scroll through each row of furniture one by one.
2 – ACNH Anniversary Cake
The second detail concerns, instead, a item that many of us know quite well and that has generated a number of discontent among fans: we are talking about the First-anniversary cake.
Released on the occasion of the first anniversary of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, after the First-anniversary cake, all fans expected a second celebratory cake on the occasion of the anniversary of the title in 2022, an item that never arrived on our islands. But why?
After the 2.0 update, the cover letter of this controversial cake has changed, and along with it its meaning has also changed: no longer the first anniversary of the game, but our first year spent on the desert island. And in fact, now new players will receive it from Tom Nook after spending their first year on their island, thus making the lack of a cake for the 2nd anniversary licit.
3 – Orville Stop Trips
The next detail can only be noticed in certain circumstances: if we will access the Airport before the start of a new day of play, then before 05:00 and it will be 05:00 while we are inside, Orville will stop all our trips.
To travel, in fact, we will first have to leave the airport and then return, to start earlier, therefore, the morning announcement of Isabelle. In short, while at the launch of the game we could in this way skip the announcements of Isabelle with this little trick, then flying to another destination while inside the airport it was 05:00, now it is no longer possible for us to do so.
4 – When Celeste Appear On Our Island
The fourth little-known mechanic concerns, instead, a small trick to understand if we will have Celeste on our island: instead of wasting time looking for it without the guarantee of succeeding, thanks to the Pigeon House there is a method that guarantees us to know in advance if we will find it.
In fact, before its appearance on the island, Celeste will be at the counter of Coffe store from 17:00 to 19:00. If we notice it there, in short, we will be sure to be able to find it around our island from 19:00 onwards! Group stretching is also a great tactic in this regard, but it only works if Celeste is already on the island.
5 – Changes To Turkey Day Event
Even the Turkey Day has received a small update! This, as many of us may have already noticed, concerns the choice of ingredients to create the four dishes of the event, which have changed since update 2.0.
Surely this is one of the changes that have least gone unnoticed, but only if you have not skipped the Turkey Day Festival. In any case, adding new vegetables such as Potato Potato to the event was a motivated and sensible choice to make, also giving vegetables alternative uses in addition to recipes! In addition, always after the update, it was possible to unlock some exclusive recipes by completing the Turkey Day Festival. Did you notice it last November?
6 – Customized Villagers on Harvey’s Studio
The next feature is really minor, compared to the others, although curious! After the update 2.0, by inviting our inhabitants to Harvey’s island, the photographic studio of Harvey, we can make them wear the personalized models.
This was not possible before the update, and not being normally Harvey widely used by crossers, unfortunately, this detail has gone unnoticed in favor of many others that brought the November 2021 update on Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
7 – Buy the various lithographs from Blathers
Finally, the last mechanic is about the Museum, but not the Pigeon House: after obtaining them for the first time, you can buy the various lithographs from Blathers.
Surely this feature has gone unnoticed for a simple reason: after donating each specimen to BlateroBlatero, and then receiving the related lithography, whether they are fish, insects, fossils, works of art or sea creatures, the crossers no longer have reason to interact with him, and for this reason still few know about this possibility! In addition, once a character from our island completes a collection of the Museum and receives the lithography linked to it, the other characters of the island, if any, also receive it by mail, making it even less necessary to interact with Blathers.
